Job Description

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assure high quality services for Inclusion component according to Head Start Performance Standards, program work plans, program goals, and other funding source rules and regulations, with a focus on maintaining screening and inclusion documentation. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Reason position exists is to perform these functions.)

 

Component Administration

  • Develop strong relationships with South Coast Head Start Staff to ensure screening completion and documentation compliance. 
  • Evaluate and monitor completion of required vision, hearing, and developmental screenings for each enrolled child.
  • Ensure that all children have completed vision, hearing, and developmental screens within 45 days of enrollment
  • Work with the Inclusion Coordinator to support improvement of program wide screening systems
  • Participate in SCHS Screening events as requested by supervisor

 

Training and Consultation

  • Provide training to staff to ensure current and up-to-date screening compliance.
  • In collaboration with the Inclusion Coordinator, ensure mandated annual training completion for staff in Screening & Inclusion related training areas as required.
  • Provide staff with applicable resources
  • Consult with community health professionals as needed to perform job duties

 

Tracking and Monitoring

  • Ensure all screening events requirements, referral, and treatment information is accurately documented and tracked in ChildPlus database
  • Utilize ChildPlus reports to monitor site and program-wide compliance with screening requirement completions and follow-up
  • Process screenings in Child Plus to determine potential referral needs.
  • Network with other professionals and make referrals to community partners as needed
  • Work closely with Inclusion Coordinator and Teachers for tracking and follow-up
  • Maintain IFSP documentation in Child Plus
  • Oversee and monitor the gathering of component statistics and progress reports for PIR, program planning, grants, and monthly reports.

  • Maintain confidentiality of client and staff information.

  • Accept suggestions and guidance from supervisor and other management staff
  • Seek feedback on job performance and evaluate suggestions and guidance to incorporate in performance
  • Commit to further training. Develop an individual training plan using program tools, as appropriate.
  • Communicate with supervisor regarding any needed changes or concerns with work schedule.
  • Adhere to agency procedures as a mandated child abuse reporter
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s Degree related to Special Education, Social Service, Health, Education required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree related to Special Education, Social Service, Health, Education preferred.
  • Two years demonstrated work experience directly related to the position preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with adults and children.
  • Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be enrolled in the Oregon Department of Education-Child Care Division Central Background Registry at time of hire and update it as required.
  • Pediatric First Aid/CPR Certification within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
  • Oregon Food Handler’s card or ServSafe® Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire and update it as required.
  • Health Appraisal within 30 days of hire and update it as required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Geographic Area: Coos, Curry, and Coastal Douglas Counties; Primary Worksite: Coos Bay, Oregon
  • May lift items up to 51 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Access to indoor office, in a climate-controlled environment; may not have access to sunlight.
  • Frequent sitting for long periods using computer keyboard, telephone and other office machines required.
  • Regular kneeling, bending, stooping and sitting on the floor or walking and standing for prolonged periods of time may be required.
  • Work outside of the office at irregular hours may be required.
  • Attendance at off-site staff training events will be required.
  • Driving to home visits will be required if a function of the position.

 

OTHER

  • A current Oregon Driver’s License is required.
  • Proof of automobile liability insurance @ $100,000/300,000 liability limits and maintain such limits.
  • Reliable transportation for getting to work.
  • Must be free from illegal drugs, may be subject to suspicion testing.
